I build website security as part of the backend architecture, not as a set of third-party solutions. A custom approach to business logic and minimizing the use of low-quality plugins make WordPress projects significantly more resistant to attacks even at a fundamental level.
Every extra plugin is a potential entry point. I consciously:
limit the number of third-party plugins
use only proven Pro-solutions
implement critical logic with custom code
This reduces risks and increases control over the system.
The most common attacks target authorization and forms, so I cover these vectors:
hiding the standard login page
brute-force protection
Google CAPTCHA and Cloudflare Turnstile
protecting forms from spam and automated attacks
I configure Cloudflare as an active security element:
WAF rules
rate limiting
DDoS protection
suspicious traffic filtering
This allows filtering out threats before they reach the server.
To enhance security, I use:
user digital fingerprints
active session control
additional access checks
This makes unauthorized access more difficult, even if credentials are compromised.
I keep projects up to date:
regular WordPress core updates
control of Pro-plugin updates
compatibility checks before deployment
This approach minimizes the risk of failures and data loss.
Security without a backup plan is an illusion, which is why I always implement recovery scenarios:
automatic backups of files and databases
storing backups off the main server
ability for a quick rollback without site downtime
tested recovery scenarios, not just a “checkbox” backup
This guarantees data preservation and minimizes risks even in critical situations.
Stability and security are not achieved with “superficial” solutions. When protection is built into the architecture, the site works predictably, withstands attacks, and does not require emergency interventions at a critical moment.
